This issue of ESS Conference Series: Social Science and Humanities (2026, Vol. 1, Issue 1) presents peer-selected manuscripts prepared on the basis of the international event “Law, Digital Technologies and Sustainable Governance”, held in Varna, Bulgaria (13–22 June 2026) and hosted by Varna Free University.

The event was designed as a multidisciplinary academic platform bringing together researchers and practitioners working at the intersection of law, digital technologies and sustainable governance. Its aim was to examine how legal systems and governance institutions respond to accelerating digital transformation, and how these responses can be aligned with sustainability objectives.

The event was organized by Centre SIPD (Kyiv, Ukraine), E-Science Space (Warsaw, Poland) and ESS Press (Warsaw, Poland), and hosted by Varna Free University (Varna, Bulgaria).

The contributions included in this issue reflect the thematic priorities of the event, addressing the legal and institutional dimensions of digital transformation, the regulation of emerging technologies, data governance and protection, digitalisation of the public sector, and sustainable development standards in law and public governance. All manuscripts were selected and prepared in line with the editorial standards of the series.
